Earth Share of Ohio partners with Ohio businesses to promote the charitable program services of the 65 represented beneficiaries and to present Ohioans with the choice of gifting a payroll contribution for the support of ESO and the programs of its beneficiaries. ESO’s activities serve to extend the reach of the beneficiaries’ program activities and expand the number of Ohioans who have familiarity with and an opportunity for interaction with the beneficiaries. ESO is supported by the beneficiaries, foundations, gifts, and corporate partnerships like ReRun Ohio.

The Genoa Trail is a multi-purpose paved trail that was constructed on the bed of the former Pennsylvania Railroad. ESO beneficiary organizations Rails to Trails Conservancy and the Ohio to Erie Trail Fund worked with governmental officials to plan and nurture the development to trail. The Genoa Trail is a part of the planned 453 mile Ohio to Erie trail – extending from the Ohio River in Cincinnati to the shore of Lake Erie in Cleveland – “the green corridor of Ohio”. The northern segment of the Genoa Trail, extending to Sunbury is in the land acquisition and planning stages in anticipation of a year 2007 completion.

The 10K run will traverse near the Hoover Reservoir and the site of the recently dedicated Hoover Nature Preserve. The preserve is a part of ESO beneficiary Audubon Ohio’s ‘Big Walnut Important Bird Area’. The IBA program seeks to identify and protect bird species and habitats in an effort to “keep common birds common.
